Shocking NYC Subway Horror: Teen Critically Wounded Surfing, Woman Fatally Struck by Train!
Two tragic incidents occurred in New York City’s subway system on Monday. A teenager was hospitalized in critical condition after riding on top of a train in the Bronx, while a young woman was fatally struck by a Manhattan train.
The teenage boy, estimated to be between 14 and 16 years old, fell onto the tracks at Baychester station after reportedly riding on the roof of a northbound 5 train shortly after 4 p.m. Emergency services quickly responded, transporting him to Jacobi Hospital.
The NYPD reports his condition as critical.
Later that night, at Union Square station, a 24-year-old woman was hit and killed by a northbound L train, police said.
Witnesses told authorities that around 10:20 p.m., she intentionally jumped onto the tracks. As a northbound train approached, she attempted to climb out but was struck.
Paramedics pronounced her dead at 10:27 p.m. The motives behind her actions are still under investigation. Authorities do not currently suspect foul play.
As a result, L train service between 8th Avenue and Bedford Avenue was halted for about an hour and later partially restored. Delays continued into early Tuesday morning.
