Shocking Truth! Why Taylor Swift Might Never Complete Re-Recording ‘Reputation’—You Won’t Believe Why!

Fans eagerly awaiting Taylor’s Version of “Reputation” might be disappointed to learn it’s unlikely to happen soon.

After acquiring back her master recordings of earlier albums, Swift’s plan to re-record them, mainly to prevent prior owners from profiting, has become less necessary.

She’s also taken her time with re-recording her 2017 album, as its songs reflect her relationship with ex Joe Alwyn—whom she dated from 2016 until 2023, according to sources close to her Page Six.

“It was about not revisiting songs that were written during her time with Joe,” explained a source regarding “Reputation.”

After buying back her master rights last month, Taylor Swift expressed in a heartfelt letter that she now owns her entire catalog, including videos and unreleased songs. taylorswift/X

“She cannot access that headspace now—she does not want to,” a source told Page Six, referencing tracks like “Delicate,” “Call It What You Want,” and “New Year’s Day,” which she is unlikely to re-record.

Swift purchased her catalog for approximately $360 million from Shamrock Capital, who had bought it from Scooter Braun’s Ithaca Holdings in 2020. She shared her joy in a handwritten note on her website.

However, she hasn’t re-recorded even a quarter of “Reputation,” citing that the album is tied to a specific time in her life which she finds difficult to revisit. Page Six reported she had the chance to buy back her work, and in her statement, she confirmed she owned her entire catalog, including her visuals and unreleased tracks.

To date, she’s only re-recorded select songs from the album, focusing on the more rebellious tracks like “Ready for It” and possibly “Getaway Car,” but not the love songs, which she’s not feeling at the moment.

It’s speculated that the vault tracks from “Reputation” might be released as part of a 2027 anniversary special, rather than immediately.

Swift’s personal life has shifted, moving on from Alwyn and into a high-profile relationship with Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce, who many believe she might soon get engaged to.

Her spokesperson declined to comment. She’s also re-recorded her debut album, which she now feels sounds much better, although it was very different from “Reputation.”

The source noted her debut’s style is unique and unlikely to be re-recorded in the same way, possibly to be released on its 20th anniversary as a tribute.
