Majority of Dems Still Believe Russia Collusion Hoax, Poll Reveals

Majority of Democrats Still Believe in the Debunked Russia Collusion Hoax

A recent Rasmussen poll reveals that over 60% of Democratic voters continue to believe in the false narrative that the Trump campaign conspired with Russia to win the 2016 election, despite extensive evidence disproving such claims.

Among all voters, about the same percentage (42%) consider the collusion unlikely, while 49% believe it was actually likely. The belief is particularly strong among liberals, with 69% holding onto the hoax, compared to 27% of conservatives and 45% of moderates. Younger voters, aged 18-29, are nearly evenly split, with 56% believing in the collusion and 35% disagreeing.

The poll also indicates a shift in perception among older voters, with just 31% of those aged 50-64 believing the conspiracy, whereas 60% dismiss it as false.

Perceptions on Intelligence Manipulation

The Rasmussen survey reflects public opinion on an internal CIA review that found Obama-era officials, including then-CIA Director John Brennan, allegedly manipulated intelligence to frame Trump with Russia. About 49% of voters agree with the review’s findings, while 35% do not. Additionally, a significant 57% believe that those involved in altering intelligence to target Trump should face criminal charges, contrasting with 26% who oppose prosecution.

The Scandal Exceeds Watergate

Furthermore, 53% of voters believe that the actions of the intelligence community against Trump constitute a larger scandal than the Watergate affair, underscoring widespread concern about government misconduct.

The persistence of belief in the Russia hoax highlights how false narratives can endure long after evidence has refuted them, exemplifying the proverb: “A lie can travel halfway around the world before the truth gets its boots on.”
