Texas Family Mourns Loss of 8-Year-Old Amid Camp Mystic Flood Disaster

Tributes to Kellyanne Elizabeth Lytal After Flood Tragedy

The family of 8-year-old Kellyanne Elizabeth Lytal confirmed she was among those who lost their lives in the devastating floods in the Texas Hill Country. Kellyanne, who disappeared on July 4th, was described as a bright light filled with kindness, bravery, humor, and compassion. Her family shared that she held a strong faith in Jesus and finds comfort in the belief that she is now in Heaven.

Kellyanne was one of 27 girls reported missing from Camp Mystic, an all-girls Christian retreat, after floodwaters surged through the campground along the Guadalupe River. Authorities believe all of the missing girls, including Kellyanne, are presumed dead as search teams continue to look for remains. The floods have resulted in at least 119 confirmed deaths and 176 people still unaccounted for.

The Lytal family expressed gratitude for the years they shared with Kellyanne, describing her as a “singer of joy” in their lives. They also thanked the responders and community members for their prayers and support during this difficult time.

In Kellyanne’s memory, her family established the Kellyanne Elizabeth Lytal Memorial Foundation. The foundation, managed by the Greater Houston Community Foundation, aims to support charitable causes close to her heart. The family continues to ask for prayers for all affected families.
