Arsenal Confirm £51m Deal for Real Sociedad Star Martin Zubimendi

Arsenal Secures £51 Million Deal for Midfielder Martin Zubimendi

Arsenal have officially signed Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi for £51 million, marking their primary summer transfer investment. The 26-year-old has committed to a five-year contract, joining the Gunners after a hard-fought battle with Premier League rivals Liverpool and Manchester City.

Zubimendi, a Spanish international with 18 caps, is a product of Real Sociedad’s youth system and made 180 appearances in La Liga for the club. His arrival strengthens Arsenal’s midfield, which has recently been reshuffled following the departures of Thomas Partey and Jorginho. His signing is expected to bring a vital boost ahead of the upcoming season as Arsenal aim for their first league title in 22 years.

The midfielder’s move reconnects him with Mikel Merino, who transferred to Arsenal from the Basque Country last summer. While reports of Zubimendi’s potential move surfaced earlier in the year, Real Sociedad was reluctant to lose their key player mid-season, delaying his signing until now.

The transfer signals Arsenal’s intent to challenge for the Premier League crown, especially as they seek to reinforce their squad further. The club has been linked with attacking options like Benjamin Sesko and Viktor Gyokeres, as well as wide players such as Rodrygo and Noni Madueke. Meanwhile, their focus remains on securing long-term contracts for key players, with Bukayo Saka and William Saliba expected to follow suit.

Fans will be hopeful that Zubimendi’s arrival will help lead Arsenal to their first league title since 2004, building on their recent second-place finishes under Mikel Arteta’s management.
