Bayern Star Blames Donnarumma for Musiala’s Injury in Club World Cup Clash

Manuel Neuer Criticizes Gianluigi Donnarumma Over Musiala Injury

Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer has publicly blamed PSG’s Gianluigi Donnarumma for a severe injury sustained by Jamal Musiala during their 2-0 defeat in the Club World Cup. The incident happened during a collision when Musiala was chasing a ball near the goalkeeper, resulting in a gruesome lower-leg injury believed to be a fractured tibia and fibula. Musiala is expected to be out for four to five months.

Footage confirmed the injury, showing Musiala’s ankle caught between Donnarumma’s body and arms as they collided. The force twisted his ankle at an unnatural angle, and the impact left many shocked. Donnarumma was visibly distraught, kneeling and in tears after realizing the severity of the injury.

Neuer criticized Donnarumma’s challenge, stating, “It was a situation where you don’t have to go in like that. That’s risk-taking. He was prepared to accept the risk of injuring his opponent.” Additionally, Neuer revealed Donnarumma only checked on Musiala after being prompted, emphasizing the importance of sportsmanship and respect on the field.

Following the incident, Donnarumma expressed remorse via social media, saying, “All my prayers and well wishes are with you @jamalmusiala10.” Musiala was quickly taken off the pitch on a stretcher and replaced by Serge Gnabry. The emotional scene saw Bayern and PSG players react with horror, while Bayern’s Alphonso Davies, also sidelined with injury, was visibly distressed watching the injury unfold.

The game went on despite the chaos, with PSG players reduced to nine men late in the match. Bayern’s coach, Vincent Kompany, commented on the injury, hoping for a swift recovery for Musiala. Fans across social media expressed their concern and wished Musiala a speedy recovery, many calling it a tragic and freak accident.
