ICE Nabs Long Island’s Most Wanted Criminal—Exclusive Breakthrough
Honduran Criminal Apprehended in Long Island
Immigration authorities captured one of Honduras’ most wanted criminals in Long Island this week. The individual, Olvin Mauricio Martinez Coto, age 36, had previously been deported twice after fleeing Honduras, where he faced a 44-year prison sentence for serious offenses including femicide, attempted homicide, and breaking into a home.
Martinez Coto initially crossed into the United States illegally on July 17, 2007, near Carrizo Springs, Texas, but was deported less than two weeks later. His second attempt was on February 27, 2019, when border agents detained him in Brackettville, Texas, and he was deported again the following month. Unknown to authorities, he successfully entered a third time, evading detection from border agents.
Though he didn’t have a criminal record in the U.S., a court in Honduras issued an arrest warrant for him in January 2022. He was flagged internationally when the FBI issued a Red Notice through INTERPOL in May 2025. Martinez Coto was found in Westbury and is now in ICE detention, where he awaits deportation for the third time.
The case underscores ongoing efforts to deport undocumented immigrants, with recent reports indicating that immigration agents are arresting around 3,000 individuals daily. New legislative proposals, such as the so-called “Big Beautiful Bill Act,” aim to expand the immigration enforcement workforce, allowing ICE to hire an additional 10,000 officers once approved.
