Kate Middleton Reveals Struggling to Function Normally Post-Cancer Treatment
Kate Middleton Opens Up About Post-Cancer Recovery Challenges
During a visit to Colchester Hospital, the Princess of Wales shared heartfelt reflections on her difficult journey after completing cancer treatment.
She described it as a “really, really tough” experience, noting that she often masked her struggles with bravery and resilience throughout her treatment. “After treatment’s over, I thought I could get back to normal, but that’s not quite how it works,” she explained.
The 43-year-old royal admitted to difficulties in functioning normally at home, despite no longer being under the direct care of her medical team. She emphasized the importance of support, saying, “Having someone to talk to and guide you through that phase is incredibly valuable.”
She likened the recovery process to a “roller coaster,” acknowledging that tough times are part of the journey toward finding a “new normal.” Middleton revealed she was battling her illness publicly from March 2024, shortly after undergoing abdominal surgery.
Later that year, she completed her chemotherapy and announced her remission in January 2025, stating, “I remain focused on recovery. Adjusting to this new chapter takes time.”
In recent months, Middleton has been gradually resuming her royal engagements, appearing in good spirits alongside her children and participating in traditional events. Despite a brief withdrawal from some appearances, her return to public life signals her resilience and commitment.
