Shankland Nears 3-Year Deal to Stay at Hearts & Join Pre-Season Camp
Lawrence Shankland Nearing Three-Year Contract Extension with Hearts
Hearts are close to finalizing a new three-year deal with striker Lawrence Shankland, which would keep him at the club for the upcoming seasons. Although not yet officially confirmed, negotiations have progressed positively, with both parties optimistic about reaching an agreement.
Shankland, 29, was expected to leave Tynecastle this summer after rejecting multiple offers last year. With his previous contract ending last season, interest in the Scotland international grew, including offers from Turkish clubs and teams in the English Championship.
Recent talks suggest Shankland is now inclined to stay, with reports indicating he might fly out for pre-season training soon. This development is set to boost Hearts’ manager, Derek McInnes, who has publicly expressed his desire to retain the striker.
McInnes stated, “I’ve made it clear that Lawrence is a player I really want. We’ve put forward a strong offer, and we’re hopeful this will work out.” He also acknowledged that the lack of Shankland’s presence at the training camp suggests negotiations are still ongoing, but he remains optimistic about the signing.
Shankland’s decision to stay would be a significant boost for Hearts ahead of the new season. Having scored 68 goals over the past three years with the club, he was named PFA Scotland Player of the Year in 2024. Despite interest from elsewhere, he has communicated his preference to remain at Hearts, aligning with the club’s plans for the season.
