Liverpool Legend Signs Two-Year Deal with Wrexham to Conquer the Championship
Former Liverpool Goalkeeper Returns to Wrexham on Two-Year Contract
Wrexham, the Welsh club recently promoted to the Championship and backed by Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, has signed former Liverpool and Leicester goalkeeper Danny Ward on a two-year deal.
The 32-year-old, a Wrexham native who came through the club’s youth ranks between 2007 and 2012, rejoins his hometown club after leaving Leicester City, where he made 52 appearances over seven seasons following his 2018 transfer.
He expressed excitement about returning, saying, “It’s an exciting time and an incredible feeling to be back at Wrexham. I’m grateful for the opportunities the club provided early in my career and hope to give back.” Ward earned 44 caps for Wales during his international career.
Ward’s return marks a significant signing for Wrexham as they prepare for their first second-tier season since 1982, under the management of Phil Parkinson. Parkinson highlighted Ward’s experience, stating, “We’re thrilled to welcome Danny back. He brings valuable experience and will be a key part of our squad moving forward.”
