Chelsea Boss Enzo Maresca Breaks Silence on Josh Acheampong Transfer Amid Newcastle, Tottenham & Dortmund Interest!

Chelsea’s Enzo Maresca Declares Josh Acheampong Not for Sale Amid Transfer Rumours

Chelsea’s manager, Enzo Maresca, has firmly stated that academy graduate Josh Acheampong is not available for transfer, despite interest from clubs such as Borussia Dortmund, Newcastle, and Tottenham.

Maresca addressed the speculation ahead of Chelsea’s upcoming Club World Cup last-16 match against Benfica in Charlotte. When asked about Acheampong’s potential move, the manager emphasized the club’s intention to keep the young player, saying, “The clubs interested, they like Josh, but we also value him highly.”

“I see a bright future for him here. He has the potential to become a top defender for Chelsea,” Maresca added. “It’s now down to him to seize the right moments to develop.”

Acheampong, 19, has already shown his promise, playing the full 90 minutes in Chelsea’s recent 3-0 victory over Esperance de Tunis during the Club World Cup. Versatile in defense, he can operate as a full-back on either side or as a center-back, without a preferred position, as long as he gets to play.

Maresca highlighted Chelsea’s wealth of young talent, expressing his support for Acheampong’s continued development within the squad: “We have a squad full of talented young players, including defenders. I believe the best move for Josh is to stay with us, and I am very happy if he remains.”

He also spoke about the club’s plans for the future, emphasizing that Acheampong’s growth is a priority. The manager’s comments come amid widespread transfer speculation, but for now, Chelsea is committed to nurturing the young defender’s potential.
