Shocking! San Antonio Spurs Pick Rutgers Star Dylan Harper at #2 in the NBA Draft 2025!

San Antonio Spurs Select Dylan Harper with Second Overall Pick in 2025 NBA Draft

The San Antonio Spurs have chosen guard Dylan Harper with the second overall selection in the 2025 NBA Draft. Harper, who played one season at Rutgers, joins a team in a rebuilding phase following a challenging season.

Standing 6-foot-6, Harper averaged 19.4 points, 4.6 rebounds, and four assists during his college year. He led Rutgers in points and assists, shooting 33.3% from beyond the arc, and was the team’s top interceptor in steals. His teammate, Ace Bailey, also a highly touted prospect, contributed 17.6 points per game and led in rebounds.

Harper’s standout performances included a career-high 34 points against Washington in an overtime victory and a triple-double with 16 points, 12 assists, and 11 rebounds in a win over Columbia. His impact helped Rutgers achieve a 15-17 record last season, culminating in an overtime loss to USC in the Big Ten Tournament.

Recognized earlier as MVP at the 2024 McDonald’s All-American Game and Jordan Brand Classic, Harper was among only five five-star recruits to ever attend Rutgers.

Joining a Spurs squad coming off a 34-48 season, Harper enters a team now led by interim coach Mitch Johnson, following Gregg Popovich’s departure after 29 years. He will team up with talented young players like Victor Wembanyama, Stephon Castle, and Jeremy Sochan, promising a bright future for the franchise.
