Shocking! NYC Boat Crashes Into Hudson River Pier With Hundreds Onboard – You Won’t Believe What Happened Next!
Luxury Yacht Collides with Pier During Celebration in New York
A festive birthday gathering on a luxury yacht in New York turned chaotic after the vessel struck a pier, resulting in multiple injuries. The incident occurred Saturday afternoon as the yacht, carrying nearly 400 passengers, collided with the dock near West 125th Street and Henry Hudson Parkways.
The yacht, named the Timeless, was attempting to dock at approximately 4:18 p.m. when a line snapped, causing the vessel to ram into the pier. Passengers described a sudden and jarring impact, with many falling or being pushed inside as the boat hit hard. Fortunately, no one was thrown overboard during the collision.
One passenger, celebrating her 69th birthday and part of a 20-year tradition, recounted, “Some people were coming down the stairs, and the boat just ran into the dock. Some fell inside the boat, and many were hurt badly.”
Fire officials reported about 35 individuals experienced minor injuries, with 23 requiring transport to hospitals for further evaluation. Witnesses described chaos as passengers, some in wheelchairs, disembarked the vessel. Photos showed damage to the boat’s rear and a large FDNY boat on the scene.
Many on board considered themselves fortunate. “We were blessed because people were standing along the sides, and when it hit, they could have gone overboard, but they didn’t,” said a party promoter. Despite the scare, she plans to continue her celebrations, feeling grateful no severe injuries occurred.
The three-story vessel, the largest in the fleet operated by Empire Cruises, features multiple bars and a climate-controlled indoor area accommodating up to 550 passengers for Hudson River trips. The company charges $120 per person for various events such as weddings and parties. An investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing, with the Coast Guard leading efforts.
