U.S. Warns Iran Against Retaliation Following Airstrikes on Nuclear Sites

The United States has issued a strong warning to Iranian leaders contemplating retaliation after a targeted airstrike on three key nuclear facilities. The operation, known as “Operation Midnight Hammer,” aimed to disable Iran’s nuclear weapons capabilities by striking highly strategic sites.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth praised the operation, stating, “This was a bold and effective move that signals the return of American deterrence.” He emphasized that the U.S. military can support its words with action, and clarified that the operation was focused solely on destroying nuclear threats, not regime change.

Initial assessments reveal extensive damage, with the Fordow underground complex being obliterated by bunker-buster bombs—the first time such munitions have been used in combat. Military officials reported that the targets sustained severe destruction, though details remain classified.

President Trump emphasized that the 60-day deadline he previously set for Iran to reconsider its nuclear ambitions remains in effect. He also suggested the possibility of regime change, posting on social media, “If the current Iranian Regime is unable to MAKE IRAN GREAT AGAIN, why wouldn’t there be a Regime change???”

Meanwhile, Iran’s parliament responded by voting to close the vital Strait of Hormuz, which transports around 20% of the world’s oil—potentially disrupting global oil supplies and risking significant economic repercussions.

Protests erupted across Tehran, with demonstrators chanting “Death to America” and holding images of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei. Russia and China condemned the strikes, warning of “a dangerous escalation” and suggesting that other nations could supply Iran with nuclear weapons in response.

The U.S. has also issued a terrorism alert, cautioning of potential Iranian attacks against American targets. The Pentagon confirmed that the operation involved dropping over a dozen advanced bunker-buster bombs and deploying stealth bombers and Tomahawk missiles, all without Iran firing at U.S. forces during the attack.
