GOP Borough Chairs Endorse Michael Henry for New York Attorney General Race

The five Republican leaders representing New York City have publicly backed Michael Henry in his bid to become the state’s next Attorney General, contesting incumbent Letitia James again next year.

Henry, a commercial litigator, previously ran against James in 2022, securing 45% of the vote—his best showing in decades for a Republican. The borough chair chairmen of Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan, Staten Island, and The Bronx have expressed strong support, citing Henry’s understanding of issues affecting New Yorkers and his stance against political pressure.

Brooklyn GOP Chair Liam McCabe highlighted Henry’s extensive campaign efforts, including visiting all 62 counties, and noted his significant financial backing, with approximately $275,000 raised to date. Henry plans to leverage statewide public matching funds to strengthen his campaign.

Henry’s campaign hinges on his law-and-order approach and fair enforcement of the law. He criticized James’ recent fraud indictment, vowing not to weaponize legal probes for political gain, and pledged to restore integrity and accountability to the office.

The endorsement includes notable figures like North Country Rep. Elise Stefanik. Local GOP chairs from the Bronx, Queens, and Manhattan also support Henry, criticizing James for politicizing the Attorney General’s Office.
