Diane Keaton’s Cause of Death and Her Health Battles
The cause of Diane Keaton’s passing has not been publicly disclosed. However, the actress, known for her role in “Annie Hall,” previously shared her struggles with various health issues.
Keaton was diagnosed with skin cancer at age 21, with a family history that increased her risk. Her aunt had skin cancer severe enough to require nose removal, and her father and brother also battled the disease. Later in life, she was treated for squamous cell carcinoma, requiring two surgeries for removal.
In her younger years, Keaton also dealt with bulimia. She disclosed in an interview that her eating disorder was linked to pressures to lose weight for a Broadway role. During her 20s, she had a complicated relationship with food, often consuming large amounts of calories before purging. She later remarked that she became bulimic after being asked to lose 10 pounds for a show.
She explained that her unhealthy eating habits included eating a bucket of fried chicken, fries with blue cheese, TV dinners, candy, and pies, which she would then vomit. Keaton also revealed she became self-conscious about her weight after a director’s request to lose weight for a part, which contributed to her eating disorder.
Despite her early health challenges, Keaton was open about her struggles, including her experiences with bulimia, in her memoir and interviews. She emphasized that sharing her story was a way to break the silence and connect with others facing similar issues. Her honesty aimed to foster understanding and support for women and men alike who have confronted eating disorders.
