Tuchel Faces Injury Blow as England Star Withdraws from World Cup Qualifier

Thomas Tuchel Faces Injury Setback as England Player Withdraws Before World Cup Qualifier

Thomas Tuchel’s preparations have been disrupted after an England defender had to withdraw from the national team ahead of a crucial World Cup qualifying match against Latvia.

England recently secured a 3-0 victory over Wales in a friendly, with goals from Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers and Ollie Watkins, as well as Arsenal star Bukayo Saka. However, the team suffers a setback as one defender sustains a knee injury and returns to his club, leaving Tuchel short-staffed for the upcoming fixture.

The player in question is Jarell Quansah, a 22-year-old former Liverpool talent who has yet to earn his first cap for England. Despite being called up five times under Tuchel, he has only been on the bench during matches. Currently with Bayern Munich, Quansah now faces missing the game against Latvia due to injury, as confirmed in a statement issued on Saturday.

Quansah’s exit means he is unavailable for the vital encounter, and he will need to wait longer for his senior debut. The defender had returned to his club as a precaution after the victory over Wales. No additional squad members have been added at this time.

England’s head coach, Thomas Tuchel, has responded by naming Marc Guehi and John Stones at the heart of the defense, with Stones being substituted during the match. Ezri Konsa was moved from right-back to partner Guehi, and Djed Spence shifted flanks to allow Miles Lewis-Skelly to operate in his natural position.

The team aims to secure qualification for next summer’s World Cup with a win against Latvia, which could see them qualify with two games to spare, provided other results in Group K also favor them.
