Barcelona’s Director Deco Provides Update on Key Players’ Futures

Barcelona’s sporting director Deco has shared insights regarding the future of three prominent players amid transfer season rumors.

Although one player might leave, Deco expressed his hope that the others will stay. The club recently bolstered its squad with the signing of goalkeeper Joan Garcia from Espanyol.

Regarding departures, Clement Lenglet had his contract mutually terminated to transfer to Atletico Madrid, while young talent Alex Valle moved to Como. Deco emphasized the club’s aim to continue competing at the highest levels after winning La Liga and the Copa del Rey last season.

Frenkie de Jong, whose contract expires next year, remains a vital part of the squad despite ongoing links to Manchester United. Deco expressed his desire to keep the Dutch midfielder, highlighting his importance to the team after making 46 appearances last season.

Deco stated: “The Frenkie we saw this season is the Frenkie we want to keep. He has one year left on his contract, and we will consider everything calmly.”

Defender Ronald Araujo, despite injury setbacks last season, is highly valued by Deco, who is determined to retain him. Deco remarked: “Ronald is one of the best center-backs globally. He’s under contract and wants to return to his best form.”

Meanwhile, winger Ansu Fati might be loaned out to ensure regular playing time, with Monaco expressing interest. Deco explained: “Given his age and career so far, he needs consistent game time. We’re open to a loan if that benefits him and the team.”
