Carragher: Man United to Sack Amorim, Scholes Says He’s Had Too Much Time

Jamie Carragher Predicts Ruben Amorim’s Sacking at Manchester United

Jamie Carragher has stated that the dismissal of Manchester United’s manager, Ruben Amorim, seems unavoidable and anticipates it will happen before Christmas. Following a sluggish start to the season—coming off a 15th place finish last year and significant summer reinforcements—Amorim faces mounting pressure.

Despite a recent 2-0 victory over Sunderland which temporarily eased tensions, United currently sit 10th in the Premier League, with three wins, one draw, and three losses. Carragher criticized Amorim’s tenure, describing it as a “disaster” for both the coach and the club, and argued that the club hierarchy has yet to dismiss him to avoid admitting a mistake.

He emphasized the coach’s poor record, noting that in 50 matches, Amorim has scored just two more goals than he has conceded. Former Liverpool star Paul Scholes echoed these sentiments, suggesting Amorim has been given too much time and should have been replaced earlier, especially after a heavy 3-1 defeat to Brentford.

Looking ahead, United will face Liverpool after the international break on October 19. Scholes expressed concern that United might suffer another heavy defeat at Anfield, highlighting the team’s current form and lack of big-game success.

Amorim, who has managed 34 Premier League games, has yet to secure back-to-back wins in the league. Despite leading United to a 2-1 victory over Chelsea last month—though that came with their opponent reduced to 10 men—his overall record remains less than impressive, with 10 wins, seven draws, and 17 losses.

Most of his league wins have been against newly promoted sides, including Sunderland, Burnley, Ipswich, Leicester, and Southampton, the last three of which faced relegation last season. With the club’s turbulent start, many analysts believe a managerial change is imminent.
