Meteorologist Suspended After Domestic Abuse Arrest
Louisiana Meteorologist Arrested for Domestic Violence Incident
A prominent weather forecaster in Louisiana has been detained following an incident involving alleged domestic abuse. Devon Lucie, recently appointed as the chief meteorologist at WDSU, faces several charges, including domestic violence, child endangerment, and resisting arrest.
Over the weekend, Lucie attended a festival near New Orleans with his longtime girlfriend. An argument ensued, prompting them to leave separately. The situation escalated hours later when Lucie showed up unexpectedly at his girlfriend’s home. He forcibly entered the residence and assaulted her while her two children were asleep in the same room.
The woman, who claimed to have defended herself, sustained minor injuries such as cuts and scratches on her upper body, along with welts on her face and forehead. During the police response, Lucie refused to provide his personal details and declined to treat his injuries. Despite the incident, he managed to walk away with scratches along his nose, which were visible in his mugshot.
Following the event, the victim’s mother drove her home, but Lucie returned later that evening and forcibly entered her house. The attack took place as her children slept nearby, further endangering their safety.
The station where Lucie works has suspended him pending an investigation. He is known to be a father of two, taking on the chief meteorologist role in August after his predecessor’s 45-year tenure. Lucie has a history of working at multiple stations across the country since graduating from Western Illinois University in 1997.
