Former Championship Manager Stuns Fans with Surprise Job at Bristol Airport Just 4 Months After Sacking!
Ex-Championship Manager Lands Unexpected Job at Bristol Airport Months After Sacking
Luke Williams, former manager of Swansea City, has surprised many by taking up a new role at Bristol Airport just four months after leaving his previous club. The 44-year-old, who also managed Notts County and Swindon Town, is currently on gardening leave following his departure from Swansea, where he lasted 13 months.
Williams now assists disabled and mobility-limited passengers with transportation at the airport. He has been working there for two weeks and was recently seen wearing high-visibility clothing, which shocked fans and sparked speculation about the job’s authenticity.
Although his new role doesn’t seem financially motivated, Williams reportedly wanted to use his time off meaningfully. Some fans expressed disbelief upon seeing images of him working at the airport, questioning whether it was genuine or a joke.
Williams’s background is diverse — he played youth football for Bristol Rovers and Norwich before a knee injury led him to coaching at age 19. Before managing, he worked loading lorries, driving minibuses for airports and nightclubs, and even transporting construction workers for the Olympics.
Reflecting on his work ethic, Williams once said: “Motivation in life is everything.” He shared that in his late teens, facing the struggles of a working-class background with no qualifications, he became driven to support himself through relentless effort, often working long hours with little sleep.
If his airport role doesn’t work out, Williams has enrolled in a course to become an electrician. He left Swansea following a series of poor results, and his departure was marked by a string of consecutive losses.
Fans on social media voiced disbelief at seeing him working at the airport, with some considering it a joke. Despite a successful coaching career, Williams appears to be pursuing a different path during this hiatus, emphasizing a desire to do something meaningful with his time.
