Missing Nurse’s Skeletal Remains Found Near NYC Strip Mall

Remains Believed to Be Missing Nurse Found in Queens

Incomplete skeletal remains discovered near a strip mall in Queens late Monday afternoon are believed to belong to Richard “Max” Albright, a 69-year-old nurse who disappeared in 2021, according to his wife.

Richard Albright, who worked at the Hospital for Special Surgery, was last seen leaving his home in Jackson Heights on October 14, 2021. His wife, Cathy Albright, reported that authorities confirmed the recovered remains—a skull, pelvis, and leg bones—are positively linked to her husband.

“I’m shocked, but also very relieved. The unknown has been the hardest part, especially after almost four years,” Cathy expressed. Despite the ongoing investigation, the NYPD and medical examiners have not officially confirmed his identity but indicated the remains are linked to him. Police found a wallet belonging to Richard near the site, and she believes there was no foul play, suggesting a medical episode after he left home.

Richard was on blood thinners following three open-heart surgeries shortly before his disappearance. Cathy recounted that on the day he left, he complained of foot pain and was seen shuffling in slippers. She tried various methods to locate him, including hiring a private detective who discovered Richard purchased a 30-day Metro card and rode a bus on his last day.
