President Trump Issues Concerns About Iran’s Nuclear Capabilities

President Trump criticized the intelligence community for previously underestimating Iran’s nuclear progress, asserting that Iran now possesses a substantial amount of enriched uranium capable of producing a nuclear bomb within weeks.

Trump’s statement diverged from earlier congressional testimony, where the Director of National Intelligence indicated Iran was not actively developing nuclear weapons. When asked about the evidence supporting a weaponization effort, Trump questioned the intelligence community’s assessment and dismissed Tulsi Gabbard’s claims as inaccurate.

He emphasized that if Iran continues its nuclear activities, it could be just a matter of weeks or months before they acquire the necessary components for a bomb. The president reiterated his stance that he plans to decide on military action against Iran within the next two weeks if Tehran refuses to curtail its nuclear program.

While suggesting a tough stance, Trump clarified he does not intend to deploy ground forces for an invasion, indicating a preference for other forms of pressure or military strikes if necessary. He also noted ongoing diplomatic talks, including meetings with European officials in Geneva, though he expressed skepticism about their effectiveness, asserting Iran isn’t interested in negotiating with Europe.

Additionally, Trump mentioned he has been in communication with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu regarding the situation. He indicated that the U.S. is prepared for various scenarios, including potential military actions, but is hopeful for a peaceful resolution.
