Ohio State Student William Meyers Found Dead at Ohio Stadium
Young Student Found Dead at Ohio State University Stadium
A 19-year-old student from Ohio State University was discovered deceased early Friday morning at the university’s football stadium. The university police identified the victim as William Meyers, a third-year accounting major from Fairfield, Connecticut.
First responders arrived at Ohio Stadium in Columbus shortly before 10 a.m. following the grim discovery in the northeast corner of the stadium. Authorities have not disclosed the official cause of death but have confirmed that there was no foul play involved.
The stadium, known as “The Horseshoe” due to its distinctive shape, has an impressive capacity of 102,780 spectators. It originally opened in 1922 and has undergone several renovations over the decades. Recently, discussions about the site have resurfaced due to a tragic incident last May, when a woman jumped to her death during the university’s commencement ceremony after climbing over a concrete wall. The woman was later identified as Larissa Brady, a mother from Georgia, who had reportedly been dealing with bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder, and anxiety. She had a history of multiple suicide attempts, including one earlier that year, and was not on her medications at the time of her death.
The university expressed sympathy for Meyers’ family, with a spokesperson stating, “Our thoughts are with his loved ones during this difficult time.”
Ohio State’s football team did not play at the stadium this weekend, having traveled to Seattle where they defeated the University of Washington 24-6. The team remains the top-ranked in the FBS standings after their opening-week victory over Texas, defending their national championship title.
