Cassie Donegan Crowned Miss America 2026
After two nights of fierce competition against contestants from all 50 states, as well as the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico, Cassie Donegan has been named Miss America 2026.
The 27-year-old from New York captured the title during a ceremony in Orlando, Florida, on September 7. Her victory marked her as only the eighth woman from New York to earn the prestigious crown in over a century.
With her victory, she received a substantial $70,000 scholarship fund.
“Miss America has long been a stepping stone for ambitious women to achieve their dreams,” she shared afterward. She plans to use her scholarship to support her undergraduate education and pursue a master’s degree.
Expressing pride in representing her state, she said, “To be supported by such an incredible state board is every girl’s dream—I’m truly grateful.” She also expressed her excitement about serving as the national ambassador for the Miss America Opportunity, an organization that provides scholarships and resources to young women.
Donegan drew inspiration from her journey, which began when she was crowned Miss New York in July. She expressed deep appreciation for her support system: “Having the backing of my state board is a blessing I’ll always cherish.”
Prior to the competition, she emphasized her passion for representing New York’s diversity, resilience, and drive. Her new role as Miss America positions her as a key figure promoting the organization’s mission of empowering women through scholarship, leadership, and service.
The Miss America contest traces its roots back to an Atlantic City beauty pageant founded in 1921, a year after women gained the right to vote. Today, it continues to inspire women nationwide, with over $5 million in scholarships awarded annually.
