ND State Football Player Fired for $228K Rolex Theft from Boat
North Dakota State University Football Player Dismissed Following Theft Incident
A member of the North Dakota State University football team was expelled after allegedly stealing a designer bag containing luxury valuables during a Fourth of July boating trip in Minnesota.
William Frattalone, 20, is scheduled to appear in court later this week facing charges that he took a designer bag valued at over $270,000, which included a $228,000 Rolex watch and $25,000 worth of limited-edition clothing.
The incident occurred at Maynards Restaurant in Excelsior, Minn., where the victim reported the theft took place while his bag was stored in a cabin aboard a friend’s boat. Frattalone was among those on the boat and reportedly tried to enter the restaurant with the bag but was turned away due to the establishment’s policies. He then allegedly attempted to take the bag to his car before leaving the scene quickly.
Later, another passenger on the boat contacted Frattalone about the missing items. He dismissed the concern, claiming that his wealthy parents would “write a check for whatever was inside the bag.”
Authorities executed a search warrant at Frattalone’s home, discovering the stolen bag and most of the clothing inside, though the Rolex was missing. Police also found a video on his phone from the same day showing the boat and the area where several bags, including the stolen one, were stored.
Though Frattalone hadn’t played any games for NDSU, he gained notoriety for his misconduct. His coach confirmed that he has been permanently dismissed from the team and will not be allowed to rejoin.
The incident marks the second time in a year that a Division 1 football player from the team has faced legal trouble, following teammate Jaiden Pickett’s three-year prison sentence for accidentally firing a gun during a confrontation last September.
Frattalone is expected in court on Thursday.
