Taylor Swift Skips Kansas City Chiefs Game in Brazil

Taylor Swift Opts Out of Brazil Support for Fiancé Travis Kelce’s Game

Despite her close connection to the Kansas City Chiefs, Taylor Swift did not attend her fiancé Travis Kelce’s season opener in São Paulo, Brazil, on Friday. The Chiefs faced the Los Angeles Chargers at Neo Química Arena, but sources indicated that none of the team’s partners traveled from Kansas City to support the game.

The game marked Kelce’s return to play after dismissing retirement rumors, his first on-field appearance since affirming he’s not retiring. Kelce expressed enthusiasm about the unique experience of playing in Brazil, despite challenges like a two-hour drive to the stadium, which he likened to old college football days. He remains optimistic about the team’s chances and is excited about the international experience.

While Swift stayed behind, she is no stranger to Brazil, having performed there in November 2023 under difficult weather conditions, which sadly led to a fan’s death from heat exhaustion. She previously visited the country for her Eras Tour and is expected to attend as many Chiefs games as possible this season.

Kelce shared on his “New Heights” podcast that traveling to the game would be unconventional, with a long drive from the hotel to the stadium. Yet, he viewed it as a rewarding challenge, especially if they could secure a win in such a rare setting.

Leading up to the game, there was uncertainty about Swift’s attendance, but she had previously committed to supporting Kelce at multiple games this season. Past appearances included celebrating Brittany Mahomes’ 30th birthday and attending a college football game with Kelce at Arrowhead Stadium.

The Brazil game was one of Kelce’s first public outings following their engagement, which was announced after filming a “New Heights” episode secretly set up in Kelce’s backyard. The couple kept the news private for a few weeks before sharing it publicly, and they now frequently display their relationship on social media.
