Pennsylvania Couple Arrested After 5 Children Found Locked in ‘Sickening’ Dungeon
Children Rescued from Filthy Dungeon-like Conditions in Pennsylvania Home
Five children were found trapped in inhumane conditions inside a home in Pennsylvania, prompting the arrest of their parents. Authorities discovered the children, aged between 5 and 14, in a room described as a “dungeon,” which was covered in feces, lacked furniture, and had boarded-up windows. The children showed signs of neglect, with little clothing and food available.
Law enforcement officials apprehended James Kahl, 65, and Carly Kahl, 41, after executing a search warrant on the property. Video footage showed the couple being led away from the residence, visibly distressed and in handcuffs. Authorities reported that the children had been confined inside a bedroom that served as a prison, with locks and cameras installed to monitor and restrict their movement. Inside the house, officers also found a stun gun, a replica firearm, drugs, and paraphernalia.
The investigation revealed that James Kahl refused to remove locks on the children’s door, which effectively trapped them day and night. The children told authorities that their father would often smoke marijuana and neglect their needs. Additionally, it was alleged that the mother had used a stun gun to punish a child recently.
The children have since been removed from the home and are now in the care of youth services. Authorities praised a family member for coming forward with information and commended Child and Youth Services and law enforcement for their efforts in rescuing the children and making arrests.
The couple faces multiple charges, including endangering the welfare of children, assault, reckless endangerment, and drug possession. They are currently detained without bail. The incident remains under active investigation as officials seek to understand the full extent of the parents’ actions.
