Man City £33.7m Signing Injured Early vs. Tottenham

Manchester City Faces Injury Setback as Summer Signing Rayan Ait-Nouri Leaves Early Against Tottenham

Manchester City’s preparations have hit a snag after their recent signing, Rayan Ait-Nouri, suffered an injury during the match with Tottenham. The Algerian defender, who joined City for £33.7 million earlier this summer, was injured just 22 minutes into the game at the Etihad Stadium.

Ait-Nouri initially attempted to play on after going down around the 15-minute mark but soon signaled that he couldn’t continue, prompting an immediate substitution by Pep Guardiola. Nathan Ake came on in his place, forcing an early reshuffle at the back for City.

The 24-year-old had made an impressive debut last weekend, completing the full 90 minutes in City’s 4-0 victory at Wolves, where he demonstrated his all-round influence with six tackles, six clearances, and three interceptions, alongside two attacking attempts. His departure from the game is a concerning blow for the team, with the injury likely to affect their defensive options moving forward.

City had brought Ait-Nouri to the club from Wolverhampton Wanderers in June and had high expectations for his impact. The defender expressed his excitement about joining Manchester City, calling it a “dream come true” and highlighting his eagerness to learn under coach Pep Guardiola and play alongside world-class teammates.

City’s Director of Football, Hugo Viana, noted that Ait-Nouri had been a long-term target and believed he would be a valuable addition to the squad, thanks to his Premier League experience and international pedigree with Algeria. However, his injury early in the season raises concerns about his availability and the team’s defensive depth.
