Mother of Texas Child Who Disappeared in 2022 Arrested for Murder After 2-Year Hide in India
Texas Mother Abandoned in India Sentenced for Her Child’s Death
The mother of a Texas boy with special needs, who went missing in 2022, has been arrested and charged with his murder after evading authorities for nearly two years.
Cindy Rodriguez Singh is facing capital murder charges in connection with the death of her 6-year-old son, Noel Rodriguez-Alvarez, according to FBI officials.
Despite extensive searches, authorities found no trace of Noel at the family’s home, even demolishing parts of the property to search beneath it. Singh had previously told authorities that Noel was with his biological father in Mexico, a claim that was false since the boy had never met his father, who had been deported.
In March 2023, police in Everman, Texas, responded to a welfare check at the home, but Singh claimed Noel was with his father. Her inconsistent stories included allegations that Noel had been sold at a local grocery store.
Singh was placed on the FBI’s Top 10 Most Wanted Fugitives list after she fled to India with her family in March 2023, along with her husband and six other children. She was first charged in November 2023 but was not arrested until her custody was transferred from India.
Authorities believe Singh viewed Noel as “possessed” and harmful to her newborn twins, leading her to allegedly abuse him severely, neglecting basic needs and physically assaulting him for trying to eat or care for himself.
Investigations revealed a neglectful environment, including a filthy shack with minimal furnishings and an altar dedicated to Santa Muerte, a figure associated with drug cartels.
In October 2023, investigators concluded that Noel was likely deceased, more than a year after he was last seen alive. Singh faces additional charges related to fleeing to avoid prosecution, child injury, and abandonment.
She is known to have had 10 children, with six taken to India by Singh and her husband, while three others lived with their grandparents.
