Girlfriend of US Tourist Kevin Mares Killed During Puerto Rico Trip to See Bad Bunny Concert

Tragedy Strikes in Puerto Rico: Friend of Shooting Victim Shares Heartfelt Farewell

A young man fatally shot over the weekend in La Perla, Puerto Rico, has left behind a devastated fiancée who is mourning his loss with heartfelt messages on social media. Kevin Mares, 25, was in Puerto Rico with his long-term girlfriend, Angy Nicole Arguello, and a friend to attend a Bad Bunny concert.

Just hours before the incident, the couple shared joyful snapshots of their vacation, showcasing palm trees, resort pools, and celebratory drinks. Tragically, Mares was shot twice while at a busy nightclub in La Perla, an area known for its challenges with crime. Authorities believe he was an innocent bystander caught in a dispute nearby, which resulted in a gun being pulled and shots fired.

He sustained gunshot wounds to his abdomen and side and was rushed to a hospital but succumbed to his injuries. At least two others, residents of La Perla, were also injured and remain hospitalized.

Known for his kind spirit and proximity to family, loved ones described Mares as “a deeply loved son and a source of inspiration.” His family and friends created a GoFundMe campaign to help cover the expenses of bringing his body back to New York City, where he and Angy had resided in Queens for six years.

According to the fundraiser, Mares was planning to propose to Arguello this fall. His sudden death has left an enormous void in the lives of those who knew him, with his loved ones emphasizing his adventurous attitude, kindness, and dedication to family.

Mares, who was shot dead Sunday at a popular nightspot, was planning to propose soon, according to family members.

The shooter remains at large, and police in San Juan have indicated that they currently have limited information about the incident. La Perla, a neighborhood often associated with violence, continues to struggle with its reputation for crime and safety concerns.
