The interruption led to the referee halting the tribute prematurely, disappointing Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk, who expressed his displeasure with the fans’ behavior.

Van Dijk highlighted his disappointment over the fans’ actions, stating, “That is the only thing I can say. There was a lot of trying to shush it down, which doesn’t help.” Despite the controversy, Liverpool’s manager, Arne Slot, believed there was no ill intent behind the interruption, suggesting some fans might not have been aware of the silence due to entry difficulties.
