Pirro Supports Trump’s DC Takeover & Lowering Age Limit for Prosecution

Jeanine Pirro Supports President Trump’s Proposal to Federalize Washington, D.C., Over Youth Crime

In an interview, former U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro expressed her full support for President Trump’s recent warning to take control of Washington, D.C., if local officials fail to address youth violence. She criticized Democratic-led cities for their approach, claiming that juvenile offenders are “coddled” rather than held accountable.

Pirro, the top prosecutor in the nation’s capital, lamented the restrictions preventing her from charging minors involved in violent crimes. She advocated for lowering the age of legal accountability to 14, aligning with Trump’s proposal to prosecute minors as adults in certain cases. During her appearance on a popular news show, she reiterated her stance supporting these measures.

She highlighted an incident involving a former employee of a prominent tech company, Edward Coristine, who was beaten severely during an attempted carjacking near the White House by a gang of teenagers. Pirro emphasized that her hands are tied because under current laws, minors like the 15-year-old suspects remain in family court, where the focus is on rehabilitation rather than punishment.

While two juvenile suspects, both aged 15 and from Maryland, have been arrested, Pirro pointed out the systemic issue: many minors accused of serious crimes are not treated as criminals, leading to inadequate consequences. She argued that youth crime is rising in D.C., and the city’s policies need reform.

“We need to lower the age of responsibility to 14,” she stated, condemning the policy of coddling minors and emphasizing that they require clear consequences to deter future offenses. She rejected the idea that minors should be spared harsher punishments, asserting that without the power to prosecute, juvenile offenders won’t learn accountability.
