Sydney Sweeney’s ‘Americana’ Premiere Outfit Roasts Amid Ad Controversy

Sydney Sweeney’s Red Carpet Look Sparks Social Media Roasting

On Sunday night, actress Sydney Sweeney attended the premiere of “Americana” wearing a distinctive yellow gown, amid ongoing controversy surrounding her recent American Eagle campaign. Her outfit quickly became a topic of online mockery.

Designed by Danielle Frankel, the gown was a custom piece featuring a shiny corset-style top and a tulle skirt that reached her ankles, complemented by a matching headband. Despite the effort, many social media users criticized her look, with some jokingly questioning her fashion choices.

Comments flooded in, with one remarking, “Who’s responsible for her bad fashion genes?” Others referenced her previous campaign tagline, “Sydney Sweeney has great jeans,” with playful jabs such as, “Genes with a bad taste” and jokes about auditioning for “Oklahoma,” referencing a scene in “Euphoria” where her character dons a country bumpkin outfit.

Analyzing the outfit, some viewers criticized stylist Molly Dickson, pointing out the headband and yellow color as poor choices. Others made light of her recent voter registration reveal, joking about her political affiliation influencing her style.

The controversy around the red carpet outfit coincides with the backlash against her American Eagle campaign, which promoted the tagline “Genes are passed down from parents to offspring, often determining traits like hair color, personality, and even eye color. My jeans are blue.” The ad was subsequently removed from social media platforms.

American Eagle addressed the criticism on Instagram, emphasizing that the campaign’s message was about celebrating individual style and confidence in their jeans: “Her jeans. Her Story. We’ll continue to celebrate how everyone wears their AE jeans with confidence, their way.”
