Florida man with 3 simultaneous marriages faces sentencing
Florida Man Avoids Jail After Secret Marriages to Three Women
A man from Florida managed to evade jail time despite secretly marrying three women he met on dating apps. He was sentenced to two years of probation after pleading no contest to felony bigamy.
Henry Betsey Jr., 50, first married his wife Tonya in November 2020 at a Jacksonville courthouse, following their meeting on Tinder. Later, he married Brandy in February 2022 after meeting her on Stir, and in November 2022, he tied the knot with Michele Narens, whom he met on Match.com. All three marriages took place without the women knowing about each other.
Betsey’s deception was uncovered when Tonya searched county court records and discovered he was married to two other women. She then contacted Michelle, revealing Betsey’s multiple marriages. Michele reported his actions to law enforcement, leading to his arrest at his residence in Seminole County.
The women believe Betsey married them for financial gain. Brandy recounted that he suggested they open a joint bank account on their wedding day. Both women expressed frustration over Florida counties’ lack of communication, which allowed him to marry multiple women undetected.
Betsey’s wives obtained protective orders after he became abusive and soon divorced him. Brandy also expelled Henry from her home after just five days of marriage. During his court appearance, Betsey apologized, but the women remain skeptical of his remorse.
Alongside probation, the judge ordered Betsey to perform 100 hours of community service, undergo a mental health evaluation, and refrain from social media and dating sites. His actions highlight gaps in the system that failed to prevent his multiple marriages.
