Eddie Howe Warns Alexander Isak Amid Failed Liverpool Transfer Attempt
Alexander Isak Receives Stern Warning from Newcastle Manager Eddie Howe Over Absence and Transfer Saga
Newcastle United’s head coach, Eddie Howe, has issued a direct warning to striker Alexander Isak amid concerns over his recent conduct. Howe emphasized that players must earn the privilege to train with the team and cannot expect to act poorly and still participate normally.
The manager revealed that he and the club had no prior knowledge of Isak’s recent absence, which included traveling to Spain to train at his former club, Real Sociedad. Isak had initially withdrawn from Newcastle’s Far East tour, citing a thigh injury, but scans later confirmed there was no injury.
Current reports suggest Isak, his agent, and his representatives are pushing for a transfer to Liverpool. The Reds made an initial bid of £110 million, which was rejected, and are expected to return with an improved offer once Newcastle makes progress on finding a replacement.
While Howe remains hopeful that Isak will report for training later this week, he acknowledged that significant conversations are likely needed before the player can rejoin his teammates. The manager also disclosed that he has not spoken directly to Isak since his return to Tyneside and that the player may be effectively on strike if he chooses not to show up.
Despite the ongoing transfer negotiations, Newcastle is holding firm on their conditions. They seek a substantial offer approaching £150 million for Isak, along with securing a suitable replacement. The club remains cautious in their approach, indicating that any sale will only proceed if their terms are met.
Meanwhile, Newcastle continues to explore options, including negotiations for RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko and Brentford’s Yoane Wissa, aiming to strengthen their squad amidst the uncertainty surrounding Isak’s future.
