Viewers Doubt ‘Advertising Tricks’ in David Muir’s Report on Beyoncé Music Theft in Atlanta
Viewer Reactions to Beyoncé Music Theft Highlight Public Indifference
On a recent broadcast, an ABC news segment covered the theft of unreleased Beyoncé music from her choreographer’s vehicle in Atlanta. Despite the serious nature of the incident, viewers expressed a mix of skepticism and apathy.
The report detailed a 911 call where the choreographer, Diandre Blue, described the theft: “They have my computers and vital information. I work with someone high-profile, and I really need my computer and everything back.”
While Beyoncé was performing in town during her Cowboy Carter tour, public response to the theft was largely dismissive. A clip shared on ABC’s Instagram prompted comments such as, “Are we supposed to feel bad?” and “This seems like a publicity stunt.”
One critic questioned the security measures, asking, “Who leaves hard drives in the car in Atlanta’s heat?” and adding, “With everything going on in the world, OMG.”
Meanwhile, some viewers showed disinterest, with one saying, “Yawn. Even if they dropped it on my desk, I wouldn’t listen to it,” and another joking, “I’m heading to the store. Need anything?”
The theft occurred just hours before the report, involving a USB stolen from a rented Jeep Wagoneer used by Beyoncé’s choreographer at Krog Street Market on July 8. The stolen items included footage, concert plans, setlists, laptops, Apple headphones, clothing, and other valuables linked to Beyoncé.
The police have launched an investigation, with a warrant issued for an unidentified suspect. The exact contents of the stolen material remain confidential.
This incident coincided with Beyoncé’s concert at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium and her upcoming tour finale in Las Vegas at the end of July.
