Vinicius Jr. Contract Talks Stall, Saudi League Move Possible
Vinicius Jr’s Contract Negotiation Stalls Amid Saudi Pro League Interest
Vinicius Jr’s future at Real Madrid is increasingly uncertain as negotiations over his contract have reached a standstill. The club and the player have yet to agree on a new deal, with all talks currently paused since an initial approach was made in February.
The player’s agent, Frederico Pena, communicated a proposed figure, but since then, there has been little further contact. Vinicius’s current earnings are approximately £330,187 per week.
Following an impressive 2023-24 season where he finished second in the Ballon d’Or rankings, Vinicius faced challenges adapting to the arrival of Kylian Mbappe at Madrid. He concluded the season with 11 league goals from 24 appearances, as the team struggled to convert star power into domestic success under Carlo Ancelotti.
Madrid appears hesitant to increase their offer, which currently exceeds £500,000 a week, leading to a crossroads in negotiations. Vinicius earlier expressed hope that talks would soon resolve, emphasizing his desire to stay long-term and make history at the club.
Meanwhile, speculation persists about his potential move to the Saudi Pro League, a destination attracting several high-profile stars. Reports suggest he met with league officials in Prague in 2023, and talks have continued with the Gulf state reportedly willing to offer him a five-year contract worth £830 million. The deal would include serving as an ambassador for the 2034 World Cup in Saudi Arabia.
