Colin Jost Wants a Closure Kiss from Jonathan Bailey to Reclaim Scarlett Johansson’s Affection
Colin Jost Teases Kissing Jonathan Bailey After Viral Red Carpet Moment
Comedian and “Saturday Night Live” co-anchor Colin Jost humorously hinted at needing to kiss actor Jonathan Bailey, following Bailey’s viral kiss with Jost’s wife, Scarlett Johansson, during a recent event promoting Jurassic World Rebirth.
After Bailey’s playful smooch with Johansson at the film’s London premiere, Jost joked that he might need to “close the loop” by sharing a kiss with Bailey to complete the story.
In a lighthearted interview, Jost also addressed a humorous billboard in New York City depicting his wife with a gun pointed at him, joking, “I don’t talk to the people in Time’s Square about anything.” He commented on the unexpected press coverage surrounding the viral moment, calling it “fun” and “something you didn’t expect.”
When asked about Bailey and Johansson’s kiss, Jost quipped, “In Jurassic Park terms, the attack always comes from the raptor you never saw coming. Of all the threats, I wasn’t expecting Jonathan!”
He reassured fans that it’s “going to be okay,” emphasizing that casual kisses between friends are often blown out of proportion, especially considering Bailey’s openness about his sexuality. “Jonathan is an out, gay man, so it didn’t seem like the biggest deal,” Jost added.
“We were at the red carpet and thought, maybe we should kiss to ‘close the loop’?” Jost joked, highlighting the playful nature of these interactions.
Bailey later addressed the viral kiss at another Jurassic World Rebirth premiere, echoing the sentiment of casual affection and dismissing overreactions from the public.
Jost expressed his support for open displays of affection, stating, “If you can’t kiss your friends… life is too short.”
Jurassic World Rebirth received significant box office success upon its July 2 release, earning approximately $318 million globally in its opening weekend. The filmmakers shared in an interview that they aimed to balance honoring the franchise’s legacy while steering clear of overtly replicating past successes, with director Gareth Edwards feeling freer to insert new references without feeling constrained by homage.
