Jost, a co-anchor of Saturday Night Live Weekend Update, reflected on the incident during an interview, amusingly comparing it to a scene from Jurassic Park: “It’s like the attack always comes from the raptor you never saw coming. Of all the threats, I wasn’t expecting Jonathan!”

He dismissed concerns over the spontaneous kiss, noting that it’s common for friends to greet each other this way and emphasized that Bailey, being openly gay, viewed the gesture as harmless. “People often blow things out of proportion—it’s really nuts,” Jost added. “Jonathan and I were on the red carpet, and it just felt like the right moment to ‘close the loop.’”
