Paranormal Investigator Dan Rivera Dies on ‘Annabelle’ Haunted Doll Tour

Paranormal Investigator Dies During Haunted Doll Tour

Dan Rivera, a seasoned paranormal investigator and US Army veteran, tragically passed away unexpectedly while touring with the notorious Annabelle doll, believed to be haunted. Rivera was in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, as part of his sold-out “Devils on the Run Tour” when emergency services responded to his hotel. Despite life-saving measures, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Rivera, 54, was notably the lead investigator for the New England Society for Psychic Research (NESPR), which studied numerous reported hauntings. His death occurred shortly after he completed a three-day tour stop in Gettysburg, hosted by “Ghostly Images of Gettysburg Tours.”

Details about the cause of Rivera’s sudden death remain undisclosed. He gained recognition through appearances on the Travel Channel’s “Most Haunted Places” and contributed as a producer for shows like Netflix’s “28 Days Haunted.”

On his tour, Rivera showcased Annabelle, an eerie Raggedy Ann doll linked to a series of alleged supernatural activities. The doll, which was historically associated with a series of hauntings starting in 1970 after being given to a nursing student, was claimed by paranormal experts Ed and Lorraine Warren to be possessed by a demonic spirit. They asserted it exhibited malicious behaviors, including lifting its arms on its own and even causing dangerous incidents.

Rivera, survived by his wife and four children, used social media to promote his work, helping to bring international attention to the haunted doll tour. Fellow investigator Ryan Buell paid tribute, recalling their recent travels together and Rivera’s role in educating new generations about paranormal history.

Rivera was a prominent figure in paranormal research, often sharing his findings publicly.

The Annabelle story has captivated horror enthusiasts, especially after the Warrens claimed it was inhabited by the spirit of a young girl and later moved to their Connecticut museum, which became famous worldwide. Following Ed Warren’s death in 2006 and Lorraine’s in 2019, the Warren family, including Rivera, continued to tour and promote paranormal exhibits. Recent conspiracy theories suggested a connection between Annabelle and a major fire and prison breakout in Louisiana, but the museum’s director dismissed these claims, reaffirming that Annabelle remained under strict control and was never unaccounted for during tours.
