Man United to Launch £50M Training Ground with Premier League-First In-House Barbers
Manchester United’s New Training Complex Set to Open
The club’s state-of-the-art £50 million training ground is scheduled to open next month, following their return from pre-season matches in the United States. The new facility includes innovative features designed to enhance player performance and convenience.
Since the appointment of coach Ruben Amorim, the team has been operating from alternative academy spaces due to extensive refurbishments at their traditional Carrington base, which has been largely gutted over the past year.
Among the notable additions are recreational amenities such as a barbershop—believed to be the first of its kind at a training center in the country—as well as upgraded dining and relaxation areas. These features aim to encourage players to spend more time at the training facility, promoting better focus and team cohesion.
The training ground’s layout incorporates a flow system that guides players seamlessly through changing rooms, gyms, pools, and medical areas before heading to training sessions. Modern cryogenic chambers and upgraded gym facilities have also been introduced to support recovery and fitness.
The renovation addresses longstanding feedback from Cristiano Ronaldo, who noted that the pool had remained unchanged since his first stint at the club. The remodelled pool now meets contemporary standards, with increased natural light added following staff concerns about darkness in some areas.
The upper floor has been made more open-plan, with fewer enclosed offices, reflecting a shift towards integrating senior staff directly into the training environment. The revamped complex aims to serve as the central hub of club operations.
Manchester United plans to continue pre-season fixtures abroad before returning on August 4th, with matches against West Ham, Bournemouth, and Everton. Their final warm-up game will be against Fiorentina, after which the Premier League season starts. Their first league game is scheduled against Arsenal on August 17.
