Manchester City Agree £12.5 Million Deal for Young Norwegian Midfielder Sverre Nypan

Manchester City has finalized the signing of 18-year-old midfielder Sverre Nypan from Rosenborg, for a fee of £12.5 million. This acquisition marks a significant addition to their squad, edging out rivals Arsenal and Aston Villa who also showed interest in the talented teenager.

Nypan, renowned for his versatility and promising potential, becomes City’s fifth new signing this summer, joining players such as Marcus Bettinelli, Rayan Ait-Nouri, Rayan Cherki, and Tijjani Reijnders. He has gained a reputation as one of Europe’s brightest young prospects, having made his senior debut for Rosenborg at just 15 years old. Throughout his time there, he has played 70 games, netting 14 goals and contributing 11 assists.

He has represented Norway at various youth levels, from Under-15s to Under-21s, showcasing his development on the international stage. Nypan is capable of playing in multiple roles—central midfielder, winger, or forward—which adds to his adaptable skill set.

Expressing his excitement about the move, Nypan said on City’s official website: “I am incredibly happy and proud to join Manchester City. It’s a dream for any young footballer to be part of this club, and to train under Pep Guardiola, the best manager in the world, will help me improve.” He also highlighted the shared Norwegian connection at City through players like Erling Haaland and Oscar Bobb.
