Robert Irwin Tears Up During “Dancing With the Stars” Dedication Night
On Tuesday’s episode of “Dancing With the Stars,” Robert Irwin was moved to tears during an emotional performance dedicated to his mother, Terri Irwin.
Performing an expressive contemporary dance set to Phil Collins’ “You’ll Be In My Heart” from the film “Tarzan,” Robert and his partner, Witney Carson, paid tribute to her resilience following the tragic loss of his father, Steve Irwin, in 2006. Steve, known as the “Crocodile Hunter,” died at 44 after a stingray barb struck him.
Before the dance, Robert shared a heartfelt message: “This is a moment with my mother that I will cherish forever. I believe my dad would be so proud.” At the end of their routine, Terri joined Robert on the stage, and the two embraced tearfully, recognizing the emotional significance of the moment.
The judges responded positively, awarding the performance a score of 35 out of 40. Derek Hough, who previously competed with Robert’s sister Bindi, expressed his admiration, saying, “You’ve become such an incredible man, and the world needs the Irwins.” Bindi, who supported her brother from the audience, once dedicated her own “Dedication Night” performance to Steve during her season.
Terri recalled being overwhelmed by the news of Steve’s accident, emphasizing the profound impact of his loss on their family. She highlighted her strength in raising two children and continuing his legacy.
Robert’s dedication dance and the touching tribute underscored his growth and resilience. He continues to impress as a leading contender in the current season, with his fitness and charisma earning him widespread admiration and new fans alike.
