Giannis Antetokounmpo Plans to Return to Greece After NBA Career
Giannis Antetokounmpo Plans to End His Career in Greece
Giannis Antetokounmpo has expressed his desire to conclude his professional basketball career in Greece. During a recent interview, the Milwaukee Bucks star revealed he hopes to return to his homeland to play for a Greek team once he finishes his NBA journey.
Hometown Aspirations
“I’m 30 years old, and I believe I can keep playing in the NBA until I’m 36-38,” Giannis stated on a Greek television program. “My goal is to finish my career in Greece. Why not?” He added, “As soon as I leave the NBA, I want to return to Greece.” He mentioned a willingness to end his career playing for any Greek team, whether it’s Olympiacos, Panathinaikos, Aris, or Filathlitikos.
Having spent his entire NBA career with Milwaukee, who drafted him in 2013, Giannis has become one of the league’s top players. He led the Bucks to an NBA Championship in 2021 and has averaged impressive stats, including 30.4 points and 11.9 rebounds last season.
Despite ongoing trade rumors, Giannis remains committed to Milwaukee. He recently dismissed reports linking him to trade talks with the New York Knicks. Meanwhile, his family’s presence in Milwaukee continues to grow, with his youngest brother Alex signing a two-way deal with the Bucks, marking a historic milestone for the NBA as three of the five Antetokounmpo brothers now play for the team.
Commitment to Milwaukee
Giannis has reaffirmed his dedication to the Bucks, stating, “I want to be in a situation where I can win, and I believe in this team.” He emphasized his focus on the present, adding, “I’m here to lead this team and trust in my teammates.” While he’s open to reassessing his decision in the future, for now, he’s fully committed to Milwaukee and its roster.
Though his future in the NBA remains uncertain, Giannis appears determined to spend part of his post-career years in Greece, fulfilling a lifelong dream before hanging up his sneakers for good.
