Brothers Suspected of Killing Lyft Driver and Fleeing Across State Lines

Two brothers are charged with the murder of a 62-year-old rideshare driver, LaWanna Lewis, whose body was discovered in a ditch in Westlake, Louisiana, with multiple gunshot wounds. The suspects, Tristan Bush, 26, and Ethan Bush, 23, allegedly shot Lewis during a ride and then attempted to escape.

Following the crime, authorities activated a tip line and issued a “Be On The Lookout” alert for Lewis’s vehicle. That evening, police received reports of the stolen car being seen just across the Louisiana-Texas border, in a parking lot near Houston. Harris County deputies pursued the vehicle as the brothers tried to flee in a high-speed chase. The brothers abandoned the stolen car and fled on foot, but their escape was unsuccessful.

Tristan Bush was eventually located hiding in a residential neighborhood and was taken into custody. Meanwhile, Ethan Bush attempted to cross a busy road and was fatally struck by a passing vehicle, according to sheriff’s officials. He died at the scene. Tristan was shortly thereafter arrested by deputies in Harris County.
