Bucks Sign Giannis’ Brother Alex Antetokounmpo to Historic 2-Way Deal
Milwaukee Bucks Sign Alex Antetokounmpo to Two-Way Contract
Alex Antetokounmpo, the youngest of the five Antetokounmpo brothers, has officially signed a two-way deal with the Milwaukee Bucks, joining his older brothers Giannis and Thanasis on the team. This marks the first time in NBA history that three siblings are playing together on the same roster.
After going undrafted in 2021, Alex briefly played in the G League with teams such as the Raptors 905 and Wisconsin Herd before returning to Europe. Last season, he averaged 1.2 points and 1.1 rebounds over 14 games with Greece’s PAOK.
Other Antetokounmpo Brothers
Thanasis, the second-oldest, has spent five seasons with the Bucks, although he missed last year due to a torn Achilles. He re-signed with a one-year, $2.9 million contract this offseason. Kostas, who played three NBA seasons including winning a championship with the Los Angeles Lakers in 2020, has recently played in Europe. The oldest brother, Francis, was a professional soccer player.
Giannis Antetokounmpo’s Status
Giannis, the middle brother and a two-time MVP, averaged 30.4 points and 11.9 rebounds last season, earning his ninth consecutive All-Star selection. Despite recent trade rumors, Giannis has reaffirmed his commitment to staying in Milwaukee, stating he wishes to remain with the Bucks for now.
While Alex anticipates spending time with the G League’s Wisconsin Herd, having his brothers in Milwaukee should provide added support. The Bucks are set to begin their season on October 22 against the Washington Wizards.
