Ashley Darby Mocks Wendy Osefo Over Fraud Arrest and Felony Charges
Ashley Darby Jabs Castmate Wendy Osefo Following Fraud Arrest
“The Real Housewives of Potomac” star Ashley Darby publicly mocked her castmate Wendy Osefo after news of Osefo’s arrest on felony fraud charges surfaced.
During a performance at Mr. Henry’s in Washington, DC, Darby made light of the situation, joking, “We’re making melodies, not felonies,” in front of her audience.
She humorously added, “In case there’s any confusion, that’s what we’re doing around here. Just making melodies,” while laughing at the crowd’s reactions.
Darby also referred to Wendy by her nickname on the show, saying, “This ain’t news to us. This just news to y’all. Zen Wen is in the pen.”
Wendy and her husband, Edward “Eddie” Osefo, were detained Thursday after being charged with 16 counts, including multiple counts of felony and misdemeanor fraud related to an alleged insurance scam. They each posted a $50,000 bond and were released Friday.
The charges trace back to a reported burglary in April 2024, where Wendy claimed her designer items were stolen during a vacation. However, investigators allege the theft was falsified, and that the couple lied to insurers to collect money.
Authorities found no evidence of suspicious activity from security footage, and reports indicated many of the stolen items had been returned to stores before the incident was reported.
Eddie Osefo faces 18 charges, including multiple counts of fraud and making false statements to authorities. The investigation also alleges he provided inconsistent statements to insurance companies about the stolen items.
Sources note that some items claimed stolen had been returned before the reported burglary, and social media activity showed Wendy wearing jewelry she claimed was stolen, raising further suspicion.
The Osefos’ legal team expressed confidence that they will clear their names and look forward to their day in court.
