Actor David Del Rio Fired from “Matlock” Amid Sexual Assault Allegation

David Del Rio, one of the stars of the TV series Matlock, has been dismissed from the show following allegations of sexual assault involving his co-star Leah Lewis. CBS confirmed his departure, stating that he has “left the series,” without providing additional details.

The decision came after an internal investigation conducted by the studio, as reported by Deadline. The incident reportedly occurred on set premises on September 26, involving Del Rio and Lewis, who plays Sarah Franklin.

Del Rio’s character, Billy Martinez, will be written out of the series, though it is uncertain how many episodes he will appear in during the upcoming second season. He was removed from the set on October 2, with series executive producer Eric Christian Olsen escorting him off the lot.

Previously, Lewis shared via her social media that she is “moving forward” with her life after the controversy. She emphasized resilience, writing, “Truly, we’re moving forward in strength. Key word, strength. Please, let that be the takeaway,” alongside a supportive photo.
