Jimmy Kimmel Aims to Land Trump on His Show After Years-Long Feud
Jimmy Kimmel Open to Inviting President Trump on His Show
Late-night host Jimmy Kimmel has expressed willingness to invite former President Donald Trump as a guest on Jimmy Kimmel Live!. The revelation came during Bloomberg Screentime, where he stated, “I’d love to have Trump on the show, for sure. Yeah…I’ll ask him.”
Trump has previously appeared on Kimmel’s show in 2016. Despite this past engagement, the relationship between the two has been strained, especially recently. Trump took to his social media platform, Truth Social, to mock the show’s suspension after Kimmel was temporarily taken off air for making a joke about Charlie Kirk’s alleged death, which he later clarified was a joke about the “MAGA gang.”
Kimmel defended his political commentary on his program, saying, “My job as I see it is to talk about the news of the day,” emphasizing his interest in current events and that addressing politics is an integral part of his role. He also clarified that his joke about Kirk was “intentionally and…maliciously mischaracterized,” highlighting his commitment to free speech.
Kimmel explained, “I’ve always been interested in politics, but I was never a particularly political person… maybe you didn’t have to be back then. I think this is a very different situation that we’re in now.” He stressed that discussing major news stories is essential to his work as a late-night host.
In response to Kimmel’s willingness to invite Trump, a representative from the White House humorously dismissed the idea, saying, “Reacting to anything Jimmy Kimmel says would require me to watch his show and I have much more entertaining things to do, like watch paint dry.”
